Engine or motor mounts are available in a variety of shapes and sizes to meet a wide variety of needs. Some engine mounts are filled with liquid, usually hydraulic fluids. Engine mounts are usually made of metal and rubber, it called as auto rubber-metal bonded parts also. Metal withstands the force and torque produced by the engine, rubber absorbs and dampens vibrations. The purpose of an engine mounting is basically to support and attach the engine or transmission(gearbox or transmission mounts) to the chassis of the vehicle, it helps isolate noise and vibration while driving.

There are three ways to diagnose whether your engine mount is damaged and needs to be replaced:

1, Unusual large vibration

Since the rubber of the engine mounts has worn out and no longer able to absorb vibration, vibration occurs. This will significantly reduce the ability of the engine mounts to absorb the vibrations. Leads the excessive engine vibration which is not expected, the entire vehicle will vibrate accordingly, causing great discomfort to passengers and drivers.

2, Impact noises from the engine bay

If your rubber engine mounts are collapsed, the metal on the engine and the frame of your vehicle will rub together, creating noise. A worn or failing engine mounts will produce loud banging or clunking noises as well as other impact sounds. These sounds are the result of the excessive transfer to the touchpoint.

3, Engine movement

Another symptom of a failing engine bracket mounting is that the engine will move around in the engine bay. A good engine mount secures the engine in the engine bay and does not yield. Broken or worn engine mounts may cause the engine moving forward or backward, even from one side to another side. You will definitely notice the shifting of the engine during acceleration, which usually produces impact noise.

Engine mounts are an important part of any vehicle that minimizes vibrations generated by the engine. When engine mount fails, the ride becomes uncomfortable and the noise is usually unbearable. Damage to the engine mount can also damage other components of the vehicle, such as the chassis.

Obviously, for safety reasons, you should replace the defective engine bracket rubber-metal parts, while also protecting the surrounding components from indirect damage.  Having the engine mount replaced is an investment which pays off immediately. You will be thrilled by the new driving experience following the replacement.  The improvement in driving comfort can be felt right away, any unpleasant noise and vibration during operation will disappear with a new engine mount. It almost like driving a brand new car after the worn engine mount has been replaced.
